Kate and Laura Mulleavy seem to have fallen into a late 60s trance for their latest collection – a kind of romantic Janis Joplin sewn tenderly into intricate tiered lace and cascading tulle. But Woodstock wasn't the only inspiration. The Mulleavy sisters referenced nature's wax producer, honey maker, floral forager – the bee. Swathes of pollen-shaped embroideries, dotted fabrics, floral appliqués and honey-toned palettes were a nod to the 1970s film Spirit Of The Beehive. It was a rather obscure mash-up but this is Rodarte, after all. █
