scene GRAND PALAIS, PARIS, FRANCE

At Chanel, life is a beach. Surely, that was the thinking behind master director Karl Lagerfeld. Grand Palais was transformed into a serene waterfront and that calming feeling sank into the souls of the attendees.

Models traipsed down the blonde sand barefoot (yes, we are still at Grand Palais in Paris), donning Chanel classics: ladylike suits, babydoll, slip and shift dresses, chain bags, logos. Tanned and toned midriffs peeked out beneath the boxy and cropped tweed jackets.

There was a nostalgic mood to the affair. You could match the scene to that of a quintessential Riviera film. There’s no denying that the word, ‘curator’, so often, so foully abused today, truly applies to Karl Lagerfeld. █
